Calculate the weighted average

Weighted average

75 / 100

Evaluated weight

30%

Remaining weight

70%

Contribution to final grade

22.5

Full calculation

75 × 30% = 22.5

How it works

  1. Set the grading scale.
  2. Add grades and percentages.
  3. Review total weight.
  4. Check the normalized average and accumulated contribution.

Practical example

80 × 40% + 60 × 60% = 68 on a 100-point scale.

Formula and explanation

Each contribution is grade × weight ÷ 100.

When weight is below 100%, the current average is normalized over evaluated weight.

Frequently asked questions

Must weights total 100%?

They should for a complete final grade. With less weight, the tool also shows a normalized partial average.

Can I use decimals?

Yes. Both decimal points and commas are accepted.

How is this different from a simple average?

In a weighted average, assessments with a larger percentage have more influence.
